Dënalisa Shijaku

Dënalisa Shijaku, born in 1989, is a Berlin-based artist of Albanian descent. She immigrated to Germany in 1993 and her work is deeply influenced by her heritage and experiences as a refugee. Her art explores themes of identity, harmony, displacement, cultural memory and women’s roles in patriarchal societies. She employs a vibrant color palette and intuitive style, working primarily with acrylics on natural canvas and her multidisciplinary practice includes painting, sculpture, video installation and photography.
In March 2023, Dënalisa held her first solo exhibition in Berlin, showcasing her “Dream Scape” series. She has also been featured in publications such as Cosmopola and Agave Magazine, and has participated in interviews discussing her artistic journey and perspectives.
Through her art, Dënalisa invites viewers into a surreal world that connects personal stories with universal experiences, offering a window into the complexities of identity and belonging. ​
