Michel Friess (born 1970 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany) is a prominent figure in contemporary Pop Art, recognized for his vibrant, mixed-media works that blend street art influences with high culture. Operating under the moniker “German Pop Art,” Friess has gained international acclaim for his intricate, hand-crafted pieces, which often feature iconic figures and cultural symbols.
From a young age, Friess was drawn to street art and by 2008, he fully embraced Pop Art, dedicating himself to creating original works. He operates from a distinctive studio in Kaiserslautern, Germany, housed in a converted 1950s file factory.His artistic process involves a combination of painting, airbrush techniques, hand screen printing and paper collages, resulting in unique, detailed pieces that showcase his passion and attention to detail.
Friess’s work has been exhibited in over 70 renowned galleries worldwide, including locations in New York, Shanghai and Dubai. He has received numerous accolades, such as the “Global Art Award 2020” in Shanghai, where he secured first place in the Mixed Media / Graffiti category. His art is celebrated for its vibrant storytelling and meticulous craftsmanship.
